I did this R&R yesterday and agree with all Anders has written about removal. Getting the wiper motor out is easy but the wiper transmission out and back in on my 1990 model with the wire harness tunnel is a little tricky. I made it a bit easier by removing the plastic tunnel cover and pulling the harness out of the way. This allows the transmission assemble to just slip under the body channel by pushing it back against the firewall (and empty tunnel) and not damaging the wire harness.
