How do I pull the antennae mast out to replace? Posted by Wil W [Email] (#1148) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Wil W) on Thu, 9 Feb 2006 10:44:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just bought a replacement antennae mast from eEuroparts to get free shipping on other parts, antennae and shipping were almost the same so may as well. My current antennae works for reception, but it does not retract/extend all the way it goes from 2 segments to 3 segments only, but motor keeps running both up and down.
Anyway, I looked a the instructions at eEuroparts and it seemed soo simple, just loosen nut and turn on radio - the antennae will come out by itself. It didn't come out so I tried pulling on it (Hard) to no avail. I even tried using some pliers to pull on the base just above the treads, not dice. I saw the sleeve and tried using a needle nose plier to pull on it, and it just tour the aluminum so still no good.
I then decided maybe I can remove the unit from inside, I loosened motor mount, and disconnected the antennae, but I cannot manuever the unit out because of the mast is still semi-extended.
I've tried both pushing the mast all the way down, and pulling it out, neither has worked.
Any advice? I saw something about 3/4" drill to remove sleeve, but my mast is still in it, should I just break it off? or just pull on in REALLY hard?
Thanks,
Wil W
