My 86 fuel filter is a bear...been soaking the banjo fittings for two weeks with PB blaster, and all I am doing is making a mess. Now I've cracked the old filter a bit, and its leaking fuel. My question is I've heard people talk about just cutting the lines, removing the fittings on the bench, then splicing them back onto the fuel lines in the car with hose clamps and rubber fuel line. Seems like a good way to go at this point. Any comments? Plan on using 316 stainless clamps, high quality fuel hose, and of course double clamping at each connection.
