Yes you can adjust the fuel mixture. My 85 8V adjustment screw had a cover plug over it which I had to remove to get access. The plug is located directly in line between the rubber cowling intake bellows and the square black fuel distributor body on the silver mounting base plate. The adjustment is accomplished by an allen wrench screw. Leaning the mixture is turning the adjustment screw counter clock wise, enriching clockwise. You don't need much adjustment...maybe a 1/2 turn. This controls the vertical position of the center fuel distributor plunger and thus mixture. Previous to the 85, the access screw hole was always available on the CIS system. But when the 85 came out they sealed it up, stating one would never have to adjust it....which I found untrue....long term overall injection system wear requires that this be reset.
