900s have non-vented gas caps.
The charcoal canister should show around 40-60 ohms across the solenoid contacts. It should see battery voltage across the connector and buzz with a direct relation to engine speed.
As for the fuel filter, if it's been a while I'd change it just on spec since they are fifteen dollars at most including seals.
The NTC sensor should be a little less than $40; you can change that yourself.
When your engine stalls, the check engine light should light up (along with the oil pressure and alternator warning lights). However, the lights should all extinguish when the engine is restarted.
The saga continues. Be aware that most dealers (and their technicians) don't have the time or incentive to spend working on older cars. If they do, they will relieve you of large sums of money in the process. The engine temp sensor would be a great way to practice as long as you have a deep socket and wrench. Get the parts from sponsors of this site. Oftentimes they are the same (Bosch/Saab) parts or those of comparable quality without dealer parts department markups. Most car companies (Saab included) have dramatically increased the markups on parts for older cars because it's oh so difficult to stock them anymore (and because we should just relent and buy a new car). It's kind of like insurance, when they raise your rates you are supposed to shop around, otherwise they will continue to take your money.
