Well, to be honest, I am not thrilled with 80's vintage Saab stereo quality, and new head units all are hideous beyond belief, and very unfriendly in their controls. Important controls are either not labeled, labeled with charcoal color on a black background, or have pulsating glowing animations.
I was thinking an on/off switch (to remote control the amps) and a 1/8" jack would be all I'd need on the dash. The simplicity is desirable.
Car audio amps are crazy cheap on fleebay. I could have one for front speakers, one for back speakers, and I already have a sub amp with built in lowpass filter.
My lower din slot has a shallow cubby which I like quite a bit.
