yes, jack the car up on drivers side front and back Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Sat, 7 Jul 2007 00:11:28 In Reply to: GOING TO CHECK PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE, matty, Fri, 6 Jul 2007 14:40:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
nice and high. the trick i found was to lay almost directly under the drivers side sill, length ways with the car-with a good light. when you get the bolt head off, with the spring, turn the car over 2 secs, the oil pump will push oil out and the valve with it. if it doesn't, you don't have oil pressure at the pump, and i can't help you on that. if it does push out the valve (tube, 2"? in length), then you will still have to be carefull to actually remove it. it will only push out probably 3/4 of the way, and there is little room in there to manouver, so just try and get your little finger in the end without pushing it too far back in, and withdraw it that way. i wouldn't advise using any kind of tool on the valve-it is a very tight fit to it's sleeve. if you get the tube out, just clean it, check that the small oil way that runs through it is clear, maybe turn the car over another 2 secs (make sure oil came out). apparently if there was something stuck in your valve you would never see it (read that somewhere), it would just wash away with the oil.
putting the bolt back in is a little tricky, against the spring.i managed to get my left hand in through somewhere? and push on the bolt while turning using right hand. i did get a few scratches. on the good side, i was done in 20 minutes. it fixed my problem. i hope it fixes yours. good luck.
