There are cable sheeves ( speeeling? ) that break and prevent the symmetrical adjustment of the seat. Look under the seat for the black cable covers that have a smooth bend radius from the front motor to the rear of the seat -- one on each side. More than likely, one or both of the covers have broken. They are a whopping 45 dollars from eEuroparts. Each. Ask me how I know after replacing 4 on two seats.
