Why did you decide to go thru relays? What did they do to you?
Here goes the brief howto on how stuff works (in this case it's about the pump).
1. Pressure sensor on the ABS unit senses the system pressure accumulated with that very 'bomb'. Once it's below certain value it triggers the relay that turns on the pump that pumps up the pressure (mostly pumping the fluid into the accumulator).
2. Accumulator is the source for the pressure. Bad acc - no pressure - no brakes. If there's no accumulator for the pressure then pump runs continuously and pretty much soon goes south.
3. How do accumulator aka BOMB accumulates the pressure? It has two volumes separated with diaphragm from each other. One is for fluid and the other is for the gas. As you might already know fluids are incompressible while gas can surely be compressed. Thus pumping the fluid into the acc you compress the gas in the 2nd chamber. IF THERE'S NO GAS THERE'S NOTHING TO COMPRESS or in other words pressure accumulator doesn't work since it's no longer pressure accumulator.
Let me say it once again: why did you decide to go thru relays? Who told you that the acc you bough is operable? do you know how much do pumps cost or how to rebuild'em?
Zig
P.S.
Sorry for being a bit crude but today I lost my tranny. I'm a bit nervous, you know. Sorry.
