How much of a collector premium do old 900s have? I am looking at an 84Turbo, 200K, clean body. The guy wants $2000 for it because is so clean. (I've only seen a few blurry pictures). The engine has been "replaced" and trans was rebuilt but long enough ago that the seller doesn't remember when and needs to look up the records. The car is 600 miles away. In my mind the car is a bit of a pig in a poke.

I am looking to replace my 84T that is rusted out the wazoo. I am looking for a driver (365/days/year) not a show car. I think the seller is making the mistake of confusing an old car with a collector car.

For $2000 I can get a clean, newer 900 that in most ways is better than an 84 (air bag, new style calipers, LH injection, etc.) The only attraction to the 84 in the first place is that I like the looks of the old-style bumpers and it would be cool to replace a black 84T with another black 84T.

So my question is: Do folks think that a 900 that is not a "special" model (SPG, SIS, comm. ed.) has any collector value?
