I've been looking at various "newer" Saabs lately to take some of the load off the 1993 (daily driver, only car, 2 kids, + would like to at least reduce the salt exposure + catch up on some "cosmetic" maintenance)...
The 9-3 hatches aren't bad cars, certainly are quick, but the handling of the classic wins hands down! Much much tighter. I just put 300 miles on ours yesterday. It always puts a smile on my face driving that car...
The real advantage of the NG900 is they are dirt cheap + appear to be pretty reliable. I just missed out on a 1997 in mint condition, supposedly nothing wrong, 100k, for <$1000. Would have been great for winter... oh well...
Reality is the classics are getting older + winter takes its toll even with rigorous rustproofing.
