Jim! I own four running Saabs and if you can work on a c900, then you can also work on a 9000. Don't worry about the stories you hear about the automatic transmission. Regular maintenance and good driving habits will allow the 9000 to go for a long time. .My two c900 have automatic transmissions and are soon to turn over to 200k and still shift fine. With the TSN still alive and well, there's still plenty of postings going on. Actually, changing the HB seals on a 9000 is much easier than a 900. Seems like the DIC on the 9000 is something you want to keep as a spare in the trunk of the 9000. We all have your back on the 9000. A well maintained 9000 is worth getting as a replacement. Lots of room and handles amazingly fine. My 87/9000t is still my favorite ride that I just can't imagine what a 93/9000 is like. The 9000 is a different beast than the c900 and still a really fine car. I just repaired the oil pump seal and replace the HB on my friends 93/c900. Tight job ,but do-able. Give a shout out when your ready to do you seal and o-ring. A well maintained 9000 is a plus +++++++++++++++++++++++. She's going to be happy with a Saab 9000 and the saftey factor just can't be beat!
