re 9k vs 900 and auto trannies you have to check into replacement cost and major component replacement cost as well as availability for the 9k's. How have previous owners driven and maintained that 9k u r considering? you'll prolly never know (unless u can get the maint records).
i'm told the 9k's have 5 motor mounts, and the dash looks pretty daunting to pull.
converting a 9k to 5-spd might be a hell of a lot more work than a 900 too, so if autobox repair/replacement is a factor, that reduces the attractiveness.
i've also read that the 900 autoboxes last around 150k miles so Saabnutt u r doing well and could be the exception. i bought a 91 900S with autobox and inquired re getting the bands adjusted and was told there are no new replacement parts available for these old trannies.
anyway, look back over the last week in these archives as someone else asked the same question.
