My friend's dad is going to help me out with the project. He's a former Indy SAAB mechanic (owned his own shop).
Talked w/ my dad earlier this week, and he told me that the previous owner had replaced the *left* cylinder. From what I've read online, replacing one, but not the other, can put undue stress on the system and cause the other cylinder to fail.
Either way, we'll track it down. The worst part is over - I soaped the floorpan three times to make sure all the crap was off of it. The cushion dried out after I cleaned it numerous times as well, and from what I can tell there's only minimal staining on the carpet. Looks like I caught it early enough to avoid damage.
I'll post once we track down the actual problem. I'm betting it's the right cylinder now, but he said we'll check the entire system.
He plans on pulling the entire system to avoid getting any more gunk inside the car.
