Sent a LOT of saabs of that vintage to the crusher. frankly surprised yours is still on the road. The wires' insulation simply crumbled and fell off Not Good. Most affected wires were those subject to engine and exh heat. Engine compartment Under the ignition switch area (catalytic really cooked those wires) and a few other places that simply deteriorated without being heated. Some Fun... Now do you understand Why I'm amazed it's still on the road?
Having said all that, it CAN be fixed but it's a long tedious job.
