whenever i had electrical issues with the car i always check the ground points first. from my experience these cars do not usually have short problems away from the engine. frayed wires are sometimes by the turbo area. check your hall sensor connections if your car has it by the distributor, wiggle it while the car is running and see if it dies then you've found the problem. also check for frayed wires by the ecu, mine was rotted and had to rewire.
