If you stand on the passengers side of the engine compartment, facing the valve cover and engine... If you look down at the downpipe, it passes right by the motor mount. You can use a 1 foot extension with ratchet to get the three motor mount bolts out. Then when you lift the engine out, the top half of the mount comes out and the bottom stays in the car.
That taper pin is very hard to get out, even with the transmission out of the car. Just leave it, and when you put the transmission back in the car, you can hook up the hose clamp thing instead of the taper pin.
