Good for you Cliff
On the taper pin, I used a mapp gas torch and large hammer/drift with the transmission upside down on the bench. It took some work to get it loose. For the removal I just split the shift joint by removing 2 of the 4 nuts and the joint falls into two pieces.
I did my Removal about a month ago from a 92 900S. On the driver side engine mount you just need to remove the bolt that goes horizontal thru the mount with the bolt head just behind the dipstick tube which you need to remove to get the bolt out. The passenger mount is just the two 14mm nuts, the front mount is simple two bolts also. The hardest time I had was the power steering pressure joint/union which I finally got loose with the engine lifted off the mounts so I had room to get the wrench in the next flats as the nut was striped prior to me working on it.
I started the Removal at 8:30am and was done with the trans in the truck at 12 noon. With the engine/trans is out of the car it was smooth, I just removed what was in the way and off came transmission. This is a dirty job as both the engine and trans were filled with oil/grease and grime.
My $100 trans is perfect almost, The reverse mainshaft gear is worn a bit and the the shift forks also show wear. The moly coated synchros will be changed as well as the pinion bearings both still look good however.
Al my parts are now clean and inspected, all is well thank goodness.
Good luck
