in place, use a medium length 'wobble' extension (3/8"), with a standard 14mm socket. You need the wobble extension so that you can come in from the side a little. Imagine the extension pointing at the drivers headlight when looking down on it. When you try to pull the long bolt out, you will see it catches on the tube-but just wiggle on it and it will get passed. Frankly, i have never wanted to screw with the dipstick, just looks like a PITA!
Obviously, you'll want to change the trans fluid- The redline MTL worked well for me. And, front and rear seals, oil pump seal, etc....
