I've had two go in my cars and one go in a friend.
All three failed differently.
One time the hose and crimp slid off the hard line (87 turbo).
Another got a pin hole (94 NA vert).
The last time, the line came out of the crimp (86 SPG).
If you have hydraulic line repair shop, they can repair yours for $35-40, you could go fancy and get a SS line for a few more $.
If it's a 20 year old car with well over 100k, you might as well get all dirty once and replace the all of it.
You can rebuild the slave for about $1. Just separate it, clean it and put in new o-rings (just call your local parts place and ask if they have the big o-ring kit).
To bleed it, do the master first, then screw in the clutch line(a PITA and easy to cross thread), bleed that and then finally the slave. If you have a turbo, you can the PVC valve as a one person bleeder. I just hit the pedal maybe 1/4 of travel then not all the way up, do that 4-5 time, check the fluid and then do it again until no junk/bubbles. Flush out the pvc before you reinstall it - or pick up a new one if you need to pick up something else for free shipping!!
