Are you sure about the 9000 ABS systems? While I realize Mk II and Mk IV are the only systems ever fitted, I am pretty sure that early 9000s ('88-'90?) use a different Mk II system than '91-'93 9000s which is different than the late 9000s, etc. There are physically different controllers and non-interchangeable parts. I don't believe the major revisions changes four times, but I am virtually positive the minor ones did.
In any case, I would not think it safe to swap something like ABS systems around between cars - there calibration that goes into providing a control system for a given car that a guy at home cannot produce. While the hydraulic bits wouldn't change dramatically from car to car, the controllers are unique. I don't think stuffing a Bosch ABS system from a Passat into a c900 would be a good idea. Something as critical as brakes should not be "made to work." Folks are obviously free to do as they'd like, but that sort of Lego mentality to car maintenance doesn't make me very comfortable.
