Has anyone looked into the root cause of wonky electric window motors?
Some of my 900s are just plain wonky. Pushing the switch has no effect. I've cleaned the switch contacts, cleaned the brushes, lubed the regulator and even replaced the motors and no matter what it seems about one or twice a year I have a window the refuses to budge. Usually lining up a long punch on the motor (about where the brushes are) and giving it a good hit with a hammer will resolve the problem.
Perhaps as the wiring ages the motor is not getting enough juice. Somehow when you raise or lower the motor, the motor knows to stop when the window is at its "stop". This is especially true on auto down windows. So I am guessing the motor stalls and somewhere a relay knows to stop sending current. Perhaps as the wiring system ages the relay thinks the motor it at its stop and doesn't send any current?
I'm grasping at straws so any insights are appreciated.
