friend!
I had a clutch slave go out in SF, but that's fine, just a 1000 miles trip matching rev's, etc... But not a show stopper.Alternator brushes went out in Canada (150 miles from home), but had the booster pack to provide additional power to get me home. On a long trip, having the tools is important, but those spare parts can get really hard to find, in any reasonable time frame. That's my issue-You can have a friend mail a part, or get it from Eeuroparts, but it all takes time (and some parts are pricey), and that always costs money, when away from home. I base my supplies on previous experiences, and others.
BTW, all my cars get dismantled annually (at least, engine out), and i do a pretty good job of going over them, within my budget (this is the limiting factor). I haven't had many failures since this became part of my 'maintenance'...
Happy travels!
