I am not exactly sure what you are saying. The key turns on the ignition system and turns on the System relay, which energizes the ECU. The ignition system sends a signal to the ECU indicating the engine is spinning, and the ECU then energizes the Fuel relay. The Fuel relay gives +12v to the injectors and the fuel pump, and the ECU grounds the injectors when it wants them to open.
If you can run after jumping the Fuel relay, either the relay is dead, the ECU isn't triggering it, or the very short wiring between the ECU and the relay is damaged.
There are extensive tests for this in the Bentley - have you checked them out?
