On a 1990 TC a couple years ago, I broke the left..... shock bolt off while removing the A-Arm to replace the bushings. Normal 1/2" Craftsman socket, no unusual pressure - pretty easy to break! So then for the right side I gave it PB Blaster a couple times, and approached the right side A-Arm the next day, KNOWING about tenderness. About a turn and a half and that side broke, too! So both A-Arms were replaced (1 new, 1 junk yard) on that car. I've never stripped one!
JohnD, I'd suggest PB Blaster once or twice, then cut or split the nut off. Then run a die (from a tap & die set) over the threads and use a new nut. I believe mine were SAE 7/16-20, not metric at all. Vern
