You could save some time on the upper fasteners buy removing the bottom mount and just pull and bend the shaft until it breaks. Cut a notch with a dremel on the chrome shaft, pull it towards you to bend it, spin it 180 degrees and pull it towards you again. around the third time the shaft snaps. Brutal but efficient.
On the lower mount make sure the exposed threads are wire brushed clean before you attempt to remove the nut. That should prevent the mount from stretching and breaking.
Also, if you can find polyurethane lower shock mounts, it is worth the extra few bucks.
