Bougicords (the OEM for these cars) and Magnacores have shielding that is appropriate for minimizing radio-frequency interference from the spark plug wires. When it gets picked up through the knock sensor and its cable, the EZK box interprets it as knock and ratchets the timing back.
In turbos, the APC box interprets it as knock and dials back on boost.
There's been a lot of discussion about this subject on the board and the consensus has been that Bougicords and Magnacores are the best for 900s and 9000s.
