Thanks, Justin. The stalling would occur with my foot on the brake. Perhaps once it stalled as I was releasing the brake and hitting the accelerator, but usually hitting the accelerator would kick the engine into good health.
So the fact that the gauge is that close to the highest reading is a problem, and may damage one or more components of the car? I was hoping it might be A-OK since the whole gauge reads from white at Low, a wide stretch of green, and then white again up at High. But if it is dangerous to let it get up to the top tenth (even though it's still technically in the green), I'll go get the radiator checked.
