does anyone here actually re attach the two outside 10mm bolts that hold the knee bolster ? i don't, i just do the centre 14 mm bolt thingy and leave it at that. the bolster fits so tightly on each end, i don't really think its a worry, plus the last thing i want to do is futz around trying to get those bolts in. this way i don't have to call my helper!
Related, when removing or re inserting the knee bolster i find it works best to put one end up into its place, then ram the bolster up on the other side and push it in at the same time. Much easier than pulling it down or pushing it up by both sides at the same time.
Further tip, for those who have to pull the carpet up on the drivers side periodically, if the car has the centre console, i cut the carpet all the way front to back under the console which then allows you to work on the drivers side without having to pull up any of the passenger side fasteners which includes the seat, door trim, shifter box, etc. again, the console box presses so hard down on the carpet that it doesn't move once in place. Lazy like a fox...
