g48 = previous saab coolant? iirc, G48 is what was previously referred to here as "saab blue" coolant, used by bmw also. Then under GM, Saab was switched to Dexcool (orange), which I would avoid. Mercedes coolant used to be G05 which is "golden" (pee yellow). Green crap is crap - avoid except in an emergency (to be flushed out relatively soon thereafter).
Our SAAB indy uses saab blue. He would be equally happy using G05 (afaik), but that is not what he stocks and uses.
Saab blue (G48) turns kind of greenish with use and could be confused with the green crap. Other than that, there is no reason to avoid G48.
For a while, g48 was harder to source (iirc, bmw dropped it)... since merc picked it up (if blue = g48 in this case is true), it should be easy to source again.
G05 is widely used, but used to be a little harder to source. It looks like pee when diluted. This is what I use because it really doesn't look like the green crap and you can tell if someone puts that stuff in by mistake!
Our 9-5 came with dexcool so it still gets that. Dexcool seems fine in those cars. I wouldn't use it by choice, and not in my c900's, but it seems ok. Dark orange.
