Sounds like a normal running c900 :)
I had the same problem only thick white smoke started pouring out if my vents from a burnt wire. That rubber smell is a good pointer to a burnt wire. To this day I still haven't found the wire that burnt and only thing not working is the radio lost its left rear channel (speaker) Check to see if you have all the speakers working.
I noticed everytime I turned the steering wheel hard right the antena retracted and when the wheel was returned to center the antena returned. Its almost as if the radio power is being cut for an instant by the pull of the steering shaft. How this could be I haven't a clue. One would need to remove the dash and inspect the wires behind the radio and follow them to the steering cluster to where they enter the motor compartment. (Just to the left & under the steering cluster at the fire wall)
Most likely after the install of the spg wires there was one chaffing and after a year the vibration of the car burnt it.
Why the car wouldn't start is very interesting, is that the only thing the mechanic said about the wire that burnt before. The rout he mentioned (from the fuse box to the steering cluster) is the rout all the wires take that run the car. Electrical issues are the worst, just a little FYI
My antena did its retract and raise on its own for about a month or two and then started working normal again. So I never dug into the reason why
