If I was relocating a battery to the trunk, I would likely use a thicker wire, such as a 1/0 AWG. 10 feet of that is about $70 or $80!!!
The stranding in welding cable is different, more fine, making the cable more flexible. Nothing wrong with that per se, as it's obvious welding cable is more than up to handling any amperage loads our cars would generate. If one is going for originality, however, true battery cable would be called for.
Did you solder the cable into the terminals? How did it turn out?
