I understand full engine load vs. wheels in the air accelerating....just axles and wheels.
Not trying to hair split, but the vacuum level, as Justin points out, is what sets the max pressure on the rail. At least that has always been my understanding.
For example, at WOT and essentially no vacuum in the intake (and the FPR) the pump makes, say, 43 PSI at the rail. In a high vacuum condition (equals light load) the FPR is pulled back to 39~40 PSI on the rail. Either the pump in the tank can provide the flow rate and rail pressure, or it can't.
I suppose it is possible that your SAAB could be running out of fuel at 6K RPM, full boost, while it still is making enough pressure & flow at low RPM. I've never seen that type of fuel pump failure, especially when we are talking about a stock vehicle.
To each his own....I just see little to no value in the OP's desire to see the actual fuel pressure at speed / load. He now has the knowledge of how to do it, if he feels this sort of test is necessary.
