I`ve inadvertenly made a problem for myself with my ABS while working on my alternator. Alt is now fine but at some point I have confused the green/white alt wire at the bulkhead with a green/white ABS wire in the adjacent loom under the plastic channels. I think this had a brief +12V applied when I was seeking to check the battery light illumination. I think I heard a faint zizz from the valve block or nearby when this happened. The upshot seems to be that the ABS light is now on permanently. Battery disconnection for an hour won`t clear it. The ABS pump runs when ignition is first on & seems to stop OK when up to pressure. Braking seems completely unaffected.
I`ve read around in Bentley & checked master valve resistance & got 4.5ohm – within the OK 2 to 5 range.
On the 7 pin connector at the valve block I`m unsure which is which pin, but numbering pins on the valve block from #1 being the pin nearest the engine I get these reading from pin to ground:
1 6.5 2 3.9 3 6.6 4 3.9 5 3.9 6 6.6 7 0.3 so there is some sort of pattern?? Bentley gives 5-7 ohms for inlet, 3-5 for outlet
Measuring between pairs of pins I get 1-2 10.2 2-3 10.3 3-4 10.3 4-5 7.5 5-6 10.2 6-7 6.6
I don`t know how to interpret these but at least there appears to still be some connection/resistance there so perhaps the coils are not burnt out.
I do have a spare valve block & a spare ABS under back seat controller unit but would like to avoid swaps if possible. Incidentally – how is the big plastic connector removed form the abs module – just pull with a sort of `pivoting` action ?
Bit of a mess to get my self into so would welcome any ideas – Thanks if you can help, Julian
