Hello again Siegfried & Ray - & here`s what I`ve managed to complete:
1) I`ve found the knack of getting the connector off the ABS unit under the seat – the black spring clip needs depressing to clear a little moulded ramp & then it eases off by pivoting on that pin. I may need to remove the ABS unit itself & despite having done this years ago need to check if it just prises out of that matt black sprung metal cradle?

2) At the |ABS block I`ve measured:
1-7 = 6.1 Ω
1-2 = 6.1 Ω
1-3 = 3.7 Ω
1-6 = 3.7 Ω

3) With the seat tied up with my best ex-army string I`ve measured resistances at the ECU connector:
11-15 = 6.8 Ω
11-35 = 6.9 Ω
11-34 = 4.2 Ω
11-16 = 4.2 Ω

Reading over your advice Siegfried this would seem to show the valve coils are OK & not corrupted, but the ECU has been upset & won`t operate correctly.

I tried over & over to get the flash code to `move on` to any further ones stored but was unable to get past 1134 – the lamp then stayed constantly lit. This seems to be described in para 5 of the fault code retrieval procedure where it describes this outcome as a valve fault.

On p 371-12 of Bentley the wiring diag shows that pin 34 of the ECU is fed by a green/white wire 0.75 dia – I suspect this is the one I pierced with my foolish probing at the bulkhead loom.

If I understand the analysis it seems I`ve fried the brain & need to do the swap – I hope the ABS junction block containing the valves is actually OK.

Thanks once again if you could offer your advice – it`s been much appreciated!
