Zig,
That used to happen a lot with the old imported British motorcycles here. Titles were created in the year that they actually were purchased by a customer and sometimes that could be two or three years after the bike came off the assembly line. People sometimes think that they have a hyper-rare bike because they only look at the date on the title and not the serial number on the bike.
I'm out of those 1989> rear cluster gear bearings now but I'll tell you that good used ones seem to work just fine and hold up just like a new one. I have several 1989> units out running around on their third set of pinion bearings but their original rear cluster gear bearing. We haven't been able to find another source for it and I suspect that it was produced by INA for that use by Saab only. It has some pretty weird dimensions. If it becomes a problem I expect the solution will be a custom made bronze bushing. Those have worked perfectly in many similar applications.
