I had a very rough idle on my SPG that took me weeks of head scratching to solve. As soon as I was just off idle the engine would smooth out. It turns out that I had the distributor vac capsule attached to full manifold vacuum. When you do this you are pulling a lot of advance at idle, and I'm guessing the same retard at high throttle/boost. So no performance advantage at all that I can imagine. Better to just crank up the boost at the APC if you want more transmission twisting and terrorizing power.
