mystery dissapearing brake fluid

Was driving the other night in my 1990, and as I was riding, I was getting a flash out of the brake fluid and ABS lights when I'd touch the brake. This progressed to a continuous indicator, which then progressed to a loss of power assist. I got a firm pedal, but was still able to stop the car quite well (years of driving an old Honda Civic without power assist made me used to that).
Well, I'm thinking the accumulator is shot, so I pop the hood, turn the key on and yep...pump is running continuously. But before I investigated further, and opened the fluid resivour and YIKES! it was almost bone dry! Maybe I didn't have a bad accumulator, but a blown wheel cylinder (car sat for a year while I rebuilt engine) I went out and purchased a pint can of fluid and poured the entire thing in, turned the key on and same thing...pump running flat out, no pressure. I popped the top of the fluid resivour again, and GONE! The entire pint that I poured in gone.
I started poking around under the car looking for leaks. No sign of brake fluid on any of the wheels. The hard Brake lines are pristine, so are the hoses. Besides, if I did have a bad brake line, wouldn't I loose braking power? Except for the firm pedal I got a few blocks from the house, the car stopped miraculously well without power assist, leading me to believe I don't have a failed cylinder.
So, Could a blown out accumulator get saturated with fluid? Could the darned thing hold 2 pints of juice? Where should I start looking for puddles?
