The fine film of metal, if there in the fluid, is likely the result of the bedding in of new & old parts. Your flushing is prudent. Have you removed the rear cover to get all of the fluid out or does the case have a drain plug? My last C900, a '92, I had to remove the rear cover to get a thorough drain. I have also utilised the MTL & it would be the fluid of choice for the final refill. Lastly, I too have had earlier C900 models with turbo & did not have a trans. failure. Your generous service interval obviously helped with the longevity but it also is affected by driving style. It is something like the life of the clutch & I know of one "H" valve turbo which went over 200K on the original clutch!
