Fuel-Air mixture locked at 60% Posted by heavyjeff [Email] (#1925) [Profile/Gallery] (more from heavyjeff) on Sun, 3 Apr 2016 16:10:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This post refers to a 1987 900 8-valve manual trans.
This has been a bear of a problem, and my car continues to fail smog tests — too much CO.
The latest numbers are:
%CO2 %O2 HC CO NO
15mph 14.0 0.2 63 1.09 (.54 max) 122
25mph 14.3 0.0 54 .91 (.45 max) 186
I’ve tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to unlock the fuel-air mixture from 60%. It’s like it’s possessed.
Adjusting the F/A mixture at the fuel distributor affects the engine, but the reading at the multimeter doesn't budge!
Here’s a list of things I’ve done in an effort to get my baby to pass emissions test.
Tune up: new rotor, cap, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter
Multiple oil changes + removing carbon deposits by using seafoam
New O2 sensor
New cat
New thermo time switch
Swapped the computer with another used one. Same result
Swapped the lambda valve with another used one. Same result
Any ideas that will help me resolve this would be greatly appreciated. I really want to keep driving this car. Thanks.
