Two and half years ago I had four 87-88 five speeds gone thru by Scanwest. What I was told is that synchros, cluster bearings and cluster gear sets aren't available for -88 boxes making a complete fresh rebuild not feasible. I lucked out and found that the four candidates I submitted were fresh complete rebuilds (2) and lightly used low miles non turbos (2). The cluster gear sets were still good. I supplied quite a few NOS parts for the job. If you dig into your box make sure the cluster bearing hasn't dug into the shaft and beat up the inside race at the end of the cluster gear set.
