Your APC unit may function properly if the hose nipple is re-attached. I find the new-ish JB Plastic Weld works very well but would suggest a reinforcement of the nipple with an interior bronze tube from K&S. Hardware stores such as ACE generally carry K&S tube sets in stock which run from an interior size of 1/32 up to 1/2 (??) inch-each has a very thin wall thickness and all are a push fit into the next size up so finding the correct size is as simple as taking the part to the hardware store and test fitting the tube for size and function (or leave the part on the car and test fit a drill bit into the nipple's interior to determine the correct size/likelyhood of success and purchase based on that measurement. As I recall, K&S tubes are measured by the INTERIOR diameter so compare tube outer size to bit-I would almost guarantee the needed size is available). I have used these tubes (very high quality) to fix many broken parts over the years including the heater hose control's connections after they broke (this fix lasted ~ 100K) and later to re-inforce the heater hose plastic wall's interior from new. The risk here is doing nothing. The fix will either work or not. Cost on JB Plastic Weld is around $8 and the K&S tube size you are looking at is probably just over $4. I will try to look at this over the weekend and report back-I'm pretty sure I repaired one of these but its been so long ago I don't remember the details only that the original JB Weld was used not the Plastic Weld. Good luck!
