My best guess on the failure Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Thu, 1 Oct 2020 08:11:58 In Reply to: Re: blown turbo and oil pressure, Rose quartz 87 [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 26 Sep 2020 12:36:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had a Te05 fail and had it rebuilt with a 16G wheel, just to have it fail again in 3 weeks. the turbo specialist rebuilt it again and it failed in three weeks again. The guy refused to honor the warranty a second time.
When I tore it down, the brass bearings were obviously worn and enlarged. He swore the bearings were new and blamed my engine. Funny, but I put a junkyard Te05-12B turbo in (that had a fair amount of play) as a stop-gap measure. That turbo performed for the next 4 years until I got around to having a new 16G upgrade done by g-popshop dot com. Pretty much removed any doubt that the engine had nothing to do with it and this "specialist" just didn't know his business.
My guess it that this guy couldn't balance a turbo to save his ass.
I highly recommend the g-popshop. Landjet gets work done by them and turned me on to them. Nice guys, and the work gets done quickly at a fair price. Have a look at their site - many options to choose from.
