After replacing the feed pipe, oil and oil filter, then cranking the engine to get the oil to flow from the new solid feed pipe, it seems to now be running clear of all black deposits. I only see fresh oil.
I'm in two minds as to wether to change the oil cooler thermostat now!
Waiting to hear from the g-pop shop as to the state of the turbo.
