Hey Myles,
The Safe-T-Cap is a kit made by a company in Massachusetts (autorust.com for repairing the commonly rusted out areas on the C900, where the lower control arm bolts in. (Hope its ok to post a link to their website here, not sure if they're a sponsor.) I put in the rebuilt transmission and tried to replace as much of the other components as possible. New clutch master/slave/hydraulic line, new motor mounts, belts, crank pulley, new lower control arms, bushings, de-rusted upper control arms and painted with clearcoat (to monitor for inevitable return of rust), shifter bushing, sway bar bushings, tried to find a new steering rack but failed, alternator bushings... I guess that's mostly it. I tried to put a new clutch in but then realized the flywheel in my car is from a non-turbo (donor car for auto to manual conversion) so the new turbo clutch did not fit (larger diameter, does not bolt to non-turbo flywheel). Also removed steering column, re-lubricated the two U-joints (they needed it after sitting for a few years). New catalytic converter heat shield, new battery. The big task was welding in the rust repair kit. In hindsight, I didn't need to remove everything from the engine compartment, but it made it easier. I probably could have left the engine in, but needed to take it out anyway for the replacement transmission (reverse idler gear shot, even with the tricks to extend it's reach). Glad to finally have all this out of the way.
Rob
