Finally had the time/parts/energy to dig into this. Turns out it was leaking at connection of the larger of the two hoses that connect to the reservoir tank. The fluid was working down the hose and seeping into the wiring harness that feeds the ECU box in the passenger side footwell from there it dripped out under the carpet and accumulated until I found it. I took out the black tank and pressure tested it - it was fine. Couldn't see anything wrong with the hose but I had a new one so I put it in (Swedes but have much smaller forearms than me - what a pain in the ...) New clamps, new hose and voilĂ no more leak.
Now on to replace the insulation that was under the carpet at it had absorbed a couple quarts of PSF; then re-dye the carpet and reinstall the interior and I'll only have 256 things left on my list. ;)
Thanks to all for the comments & suggestions.
