Well, I looked down at the balancer. Nothing out of order there. I had some charging issues lately, and wondered if the bearing had gone bad in my alternator and locked it up. I loosened it and then secured it so the belts could spin over the alt. pulleys to eliminate the alt. drag if that was the culprit.. Replaced dizzy with good hall sensor plug and started right up. Idles nicely. As I said in an earlier post, I had removed the plastic bellhouse shield and re-instated all turbo plumbing. With that cover off, it appears the noise is coming from within the clutch assembly. Perhaps a flywheel bolt walked out and is dragging the disc or even just out completely and jammed between the flywheel and disc in that recessed area on the flywheel? When I push the clutch in and out, the noise alters, so there's something going on in there. If the weather plays nice, I'll pull the clutch out this weekend and see just what the mystery is! I'll update as I go. PS: All of this is great to discover...but where did that burning rubber/plastic smell come from that night?? Love playing detective! Bob
