Hi Rob (SE Virginia),
I live off of Centerville Road, Williamsburg. Been a SAAB shade tree mechanic for my own SAABs since 1972. Interesting enough... one of my current SAABs ( I have 5) is a 85 SAAB 900 NA (had since new, mechanical fuel injection, B201 8 valve engine) with ~350K miles on her now. I would be willing to give it a try if you can not find someone locally. Per SAAB shop service manual, unlike the previous inductive pickup, I was under the impression the Hall Generator and slot rotor was not serviceable as of 84...i.e. one needed to swap out the whole distributor. Hate to see a 85 put out for parts since there are just a few left on the road. Is yours a 16 or 8 Valve engine?
For 85 the distributor was....
8 valve non-turbo..B201 Engine....Bosch 0 237 021 014 (US)
8 Valve Turbo.....B201 Engine.....Bosch 0 237 026 006
16 Valve Turbo....B202 Engine.....Bosch 0 237 507 001
Dana
