Hi Dana -- you are correct, I was trying to resolve a problem with the car in 2017. I switched out some parts and it ran better -- I generally tested it by long idling periods while I worked on the lawn, etc. However, not too far into 2017 I was diagnosed with cancer, with took a lot of time and energy. I kept going back and trying to make things work out and sometimes things looked good, but then came a time when it would turn like a champ but not start. I hired a mechanic through MyMechanic and the guy was an ace, started his career in a SAAB+GM dealership. He showed me the device on the side of the distributor, then checked each of the three wired coming from it.... one was dead, the other two were fine. He said he'd try to get the part via MyMechanic and come back but they did not stock the part and would not send him back when I found the part at RockAuto. He had told me what to expect if I disassembled the distributor so I gave it a try, but there is a circlip retaining things behind the spring-like metal circular piece; when I tried to remove it the circlip sailed off to heaven knows where. Then my cancer came back, sidelining me for a good while but it is pretty well under control now. I tried to work on the distributor some more but realized I was over my head, tried MyMechanic again (NO---), so trying this route. I did try to call around 5:15pm but I think my phone is not connecting, I hear clicks but nothing more. Anyway, it'd be great if I could get her running again, she is in good but not perfect shape other than this. I'm at 757-645-3433 and it is 108 Jameswood; Centerville towards the river until the road ends, then a right, go past Greensprings, past the bicycle place and next the daycare, then turn left onto Rte. 1101 (I think that is right) aka John Rolfe, four right should be Jameswood. She deserves more road time. - Rob
