RE: AC.

Well, I'm going off of head pressure. Though I think the amount spec'd for R134a is 1.2lbs. So that's roughly on target with a can and a half of 12oz cans. I haven't hit the highway yet but will report back.

It's been hot. My thermometer is around 120 degrees at the vent when I start the car. This drops to 80 degrees. It's not real cold, but 80 degrees at the vent is better than 120 by FAR!.

I definitely have an issue with the antifrost switch, I'll play with it this week and report back, because it's cycling too much.

Alternative Fans:

Yeah, all I can say is "OEM fans are trash". Maybe not always - but they're old, bulky, and noisy. I didnt realize how good new fans were until I worked on my buddies 328i, didn't even know the fan was running. After going through all of my spares I finally bit the bullet on some cheapo amazon ones. $29.99 each and wowo I should have done this years ago.

These are quiet, but slimline, so not perfect amount of airflow but keep temps on target with a good setup otherwise (new radiator, etc). I think they also take less power to run.

You can squeeze two of these in:

4.5 out of 5 stars1,293 Reviews 12" inch Slim Fan Push Pull Electric Radiator Cooling Fans

Titled: 12" inch Slim Fan Push Pull Electric Radiator Cooling Fans 12V Mount Kit Unversal Black.

You may be better off not getting the slim ones, and using thicker ones, they may pull more air.

That's what they are. You need to create your own wiring, this is simple with some spade connectors and your old OEM connectors may be shot at this point anyway (mine were). I used Metal zip ties to mount them to the radiator, but you could probably do something more professional. Be sure to connect them the right + and - because otherwise it'll be a push fan instead of a puller.

I also fitted 2 LED lights to my dashboard to indicate which if any fans are running . They run from the positive side of the fan power to an LED on my dash, and then is grounded at the dash. That's just for fun.

I will dig up pics and reply.
